Duggirala mandi what has changed after e-NAM: Duggirala, a village in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, joined the electronic National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) platform in May 2017. It was one of the 10 mandis in AP to join e-NAM in the programme’s second phase. The mandi had been using the online platform of NeML (NCDEX eMarkets Ltd) till then. All operations, right from gate entry to exit, e-bidding and electronic weighing are now done as per the process of e-NAM. Now it operates and maintains the e-NAM platform countrywide. Online bidding is done every day between 9.30 am and 11.00 am.

Slowly but steadily, the e-NAM platform is taking root
Total of 585 mandis have been covered; 85% of these have assaying labs. The target for the number of mandis to be covered under e-NAM in the first two years in 585 mandis across 16 States and two Union Territories was achieved in March 2018. So far, inter-mandi trade has started in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, and Madhya Pradesh. Work has also begun on setting up assaying labs in each mandi and putting in place the logistics network.

Uttari Chotanagpur Progressive Farmer Producer Company Limited FPC (UCproFPC) was incorporated in Dec’19, to serve small and marginal farmers of green vegetables in Hazaribagh district, Jharkhand.

The FPO got itself registered on e-NAM in May’20. Till 31st Mar’22, it had sold 5878 quintals of commodities worth Rs 83.15 lacs and received Rs 75.92 lacs e-payment. Based on e-NAM business, the FPO got appreciation from SDO, Hazaribagh on the occasion of Republic Day’21.
Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, CEO of UCProFPC stated, “because of e-NAM, we can connect to more buyers; no. of buyers has increased from 2-3 to 6-7. We are able to approach rice millers directly for selling our paddy crop. Our member farmers are joyful about the higher price realization due to e-NAM; around 5-8% higher price realization on e-NAM in comparison to traditional market. Churchu Wadi Fal Sabji Producer Company Limited, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand
Churchu Wadi Fal Sabji Producer Company Limited (CWFSPCL) was incorporated in the year 2016 to serve small and marginal farmers of Paddy, Watermelon and Vegetables produced in Churchu block of Hazaribagh district, Jharkhand. Currently it is serving across 41 villages and 760 farmers in the block.

Till 31st Mar’22, it had sold 2543 quintals of commodities worth Rs 41.56 lacs and got Rs 23.58 lacs e-payment.
The FPO members stated, “prompt payment via e-NAM is very amazing. Based on the e-NAM trade record we are now availing extended credit line from local banks. Thank you SFAC for running such a beneficial scheme.” CEO of the FPO Mr. Phuleshwar Mehto has expressed his pleasure about ease of doing business and keeping record of transactions through e-NAM. He further stated that the transparent system followed in e-NAM brings confidence of member farmers of the FPO.

Churchu Nari Urja Farmer Producer Company Ltd (CNUFPC) was registered as a FPO in the year 2018. The FPO is working in two blocks of Hazaribagh District; Churchu & Dadi. It has 7000 farmer members cultivating Paddy, Tomato, Watermelon, etc.
read moreThe women-owned FPO, joined e-NAM on Aug’21. As on 31st Mar’22, it had sold 7953 quintals of commodities worth Rs 1.09 Cr; got Rs 93.74 lacs e-payment. Prior to e-NAM, members of CNUFPC used to sell their produce in local physical markets and village level collection agents having biased price related information. Post their experience of selling on e-NAM, they realized that their produce is fetching more prices as compared to local markets on the same point of time. Moreover, transparency in e-NAM trade also saves them from the malpractices at the local markets.
Mr. Sumitra Devi, Director of the FPO stated, “our FPO has received most of if its payment digitally against the sale of the produce. we are impressed by prompt payment via e-NAM & access to more buyers; no. of buyers has increased from 2-3 to 6-7 and e-NAM is providing us support to sell our farm produce in Koderma and Garhwa districts of the state in addition to native Hazaribagh market. We are also getting better price (around 5-8% higher price) via the online trading.” The FPO is winner of Best FPO of the Year Award (under small category) in Livelihoods India Summit-2021; the award was presented by Smt. Neelkamal Darbadi, IAS, (Ex- MD SFAC).
Meherpur Agro Producer Company Limited, Birbhum, West Bengal
Meherpur Agro Producer Company Limited (MAPCL) was incorporated in the year 2015 to serve the farmers of Sadaipur Suri block, district- Birbhum, West Bengal. It has more than 1000 farmer members growing vegetables (tomato, potato, onion, pumpkin and other seasonal vegetables).
read morePrior to e-NAM, the FPO members were selling their produce in local markets and dependent on mercy of traders pertaining to assaying quality of their produce, produce quantity and post trade on-time payment. They also had limited option to select buyers for their produce. The FPO joined e-NAM on July’21, post getting informed about the scheme and its benefits via an awareness session. As on 31st Mar’22, 4678 quintals of commodities worth Rs 70.07 lacs had been traded on e-NAM by the FPO.
Mr. Sumanto Panja, ECO of the FPO complemented, “our farmers are very happy with the transparency and better price realization on the platform; about 5% better price realization on e-NAM as compare to physical market prices. We are thankful to SFAC & e-NAM Team for their regular trainings and on-ground support.”

Pursurah Krishi Unnyan Producer Company Limited (PKUPCL), incorporated in the year 2018. The FPO is dealing in production and marketing of potato, pointed gourd, brinjal, cucumber and other vegetables. It is serving more than 300 farmers covering 10 villages of Pursurah block of Hooghly district, West Bengal.

Till 31st Mar’22, the FPO had sold 4345 quintals of commodities worth Rs 64.09 lacs. Mr. Bappa Das Vaisnav CEO of PKUPCL has extended thanks to e-SFAC & NAM team by saying “due to vast number of traders connected over e-NAM we are now able to sell our produce at good prices (around 5 % price hike on e-NAM) and our no. of buyers also has also increased from 2-3 to 3-4.”

Cotton farmers are getting lucrative prices on e-NAM , Khammam APMC , Telangana
Cotton farmers of Telangana are realizing prices never seen before on e-NAM in Khammam market, Telangana. In one of the stances, Mr. Telu Veraiah, from village ‘Gigollapally’, highest price winning cotton Farmer (got Rs 11,125/- per quintal dated 24th Mar’22), was felicitated by Asst. Collector of Khammam dist. in presence of the Chairperson- APMC Khammam and Selection Grade Secretary-APMC Khammam.

He regularly trades via e-NAM as he has found the process to be very transparent and quick , and crating competition among traders. On 24th Mar’22 modal price of Rs 11,000/- per quintal cotton realised in the Mandi ; total 59 cotton lots traded with average bid per lot being ‘2’ on the day.In another incident, cotton sold at highest price of Rs 12,001/- per quintal on e-NAM at Khammam market on Saturday, 26th March’22. A farmer from Aswraopuram of Kottagudem district in Telangana got this price. Modal price Of Rs 10,500/- per quintal and lowest price of Rs 9,000/- per quintal realised on this day.
Tamil Nadu is one among leading e-NAM Implementing States in terms of e-Payment
Tamil Nadu is an important Southern States of India having a grand share in National crop production. The major crops sown in Tamil Nadu are Rice, Jowar. Ragi, Bajra, Maize, and Pulses Other crops that are highly cultivated in the regions of Tamil Nadu are Cotton, Sugarcane, Tea, Coffee, and Coconut. In Tamil Nadu 284 Regulated Markets are functioning under 27 Market Committees as per the provisions made in Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Act 1987 and its Rules 1991.

Its steady effort has started showing prolific results in multiple fronts. One of the great achievements on e-NAM front is massive e-payment to farmers based e-NAM trade. From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2022. total e-payment of Rs 915.94 Crore has been done, for e-NAM trade worth Rs 1330.9 Crore.
Gingee in Villupuram Market Committee in Tamil Nadu is the top performing e NAM market on e-payment; and an e payment to the tune of Rs.241.22 Crore has been done for e-NAM trade worth Rs.344.47 Crore.e-payment is helping the farmers in multiple ways like ease of receiving money in their bank account, getting into formal banking system and its associated benefits, shortening the time of receiving payment, post their trade, etc.With this early success, the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Agri Business is expecting more and more no. of farmers to trade in e-NAM and to receive e-payment through e NAM portal in coming days.
Cotton crop got all time high price on e-NAM- Kesamudram APMC , Telangana
On 06.01.2022, Cotton Crop got all time high price of Rs. 10,101/- per Quintal to Mr. Vanam Malliah, a Farmer from Chetla Mupparam Village, Nellikudur Mandal on e-NAM platform at Kesamudram APMC, Telangana. Wherein, the prevailing Average Price range were approx Rs. 8500/- to Rs. 9000/- in Private Purchases or other Non e-NAM Purchases. The said Farmer has brought 4.00 Quintals of Cotton to the Market.
